As we approach the season of giving, we can not help but to think of those less fortunate than ourselves. Under the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, we are very fortunate to have a church, a priest, religious literature, and youth programs for our children. Unfortunately, our brothers and sisters in South America are not as fortunate as we are. Just to give an example of the dire need, there are twenty churches in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and only four priests to serve the people. It is our duty as Christians to help our fellow brothers and sisters.

As a result, FDF, through its new Diakonia Program, is sponsoring its 1st Annual FDF Dance-A-Thon fundraiser, which will directly benefit the Archdiocese of South America. All of the proceeds will be used for things such as translation services, youth ministries, religious education and opportunities for seminarians. The FDF Dance-A-Thon fundraiser will take place at St. Sophia Cathedral on Friday, November 25, 2005 at 6:30 pm. Local musicians will be playing live music from various regions of Greece, and all attendees will be encouraged to dance in the name of fellowship and Christianity for our fellow South Americans. We ask that all dancers participate by obtaining sponsors from other’s or themselves to benefit this cause. A minimum twenty dollar donation is suggested in order to participate in this event. Non- participants are also welcome to join in on the festivities. There will be light snacks and refreshments served, as well as games for all to participate in. Please contact you parish representative for more details.

This fundraiser will serve as an outreach fundraiser that will both benefit this worthy cause, and also serve to bring many Greek Orthodox Christians together through song and dance. Please find it in your hearts to participate in this worthy cause. It is our duty as fellow Christians to give back and to help those that are in need.

In His Service,
The FDF Dance-A-Thon Committee
